Every time Republicans look to cut funding from government programs, education is the first thing to go. Why is that? I think it's time somebody asked. To my mind, the only reason to cut funding for public education is to deprive poor and underpriviledged students from receiving an education remotely close to on par with that of rich white suburbanites.
And for the record, I'm an upper-middle-class white suburbanite. I know their world, and I think it's atrocious.
The middle and lower classes of America will not tolerate the Republican stance on education if somebody flat out says that they're deliberately removing the chance for equality in education.
Additionally, these anti-abortion campaigners frequently say that we never know when we might be aborting the next Mozart or Rembrandt. Well, if they had their way we wouldn't abort the child, we'd just make sure that he never had a music or painting class in school and was only able to receive the bare minimum of educational quality, ensuring that he never manifested that potential to be a Mozart or a Rembrandt.
It's time to call them out.
